Xiao Xiao, received his B.E and M.E in civil engineering from Changsha University of Science and Technology and Shenyang Jianzhu University, and Ph.D from Zhejiang University, He joined University of South China in 2005 and currently serves as Associate Professor and Postgraduate Tutor in Structural Engineering. He is "Top Ten Outstanding Teachers" of University of South China in 2018, key teacher of "12th Five-Year Plan" in civil Engineering of Hunan Province. He is a visiting scholar at Monash University, Australia, membership of the American Concrete Association (ACI) (Concrete columns), membership of the Hunan Society of Rock Mechanics engineering, and Supervision engineer of Hunan Province who represent the director and project manager on the projects. The main research fields include mechanical properties research and numerical simulation of concrete structures, seismic and isolation of bridges, FRP composite structures and space structures. He hosted and participated more than 30 scientific research projects in recent years, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 863 projects, COSTIND (State Commission of Science and Technology for National Defense Industry) projects, GAD (General Armament Department) projects, Hunan Science and Technology Department projects, Science and Technology Project of Hunan Education Department as well as Hengyang municipal scientific research projects and so on. He published more than 40 papers in domestic and international academic journals, including 18 papers which indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. The project of "new method for seismic performance of reinforced high strength concrete frame structures" won the 2011 Liaoning province and 2010 Shenyang city science and technology progress third prize respectively. He has published 1 monograph, 1 text book, and applied for more than 10 national invention patents.
